Frances Harder, Founder/CEO

Frances Harder authored and published a series of books dealing with starting a fashion business.  Fashion for Profit (10th edition), Costing for Profit, Brand Building for Profit and Forms for Profit are industry focused texts used both by new companies and for further education programs. 

In 1999 she foundered the FBI (Fashion Business Incorporated), an educational not for profit 501c3 organization, which provided vital business development, resources and certified job training programs to both the US, and to the International apparel industry.
For the past 10 years Frances has been a consultant to the United Nations assisting small businesses. She was recently consulting producers of Alpaca products in Peru & Cashmere products in Nepal on creating and developing products for the US market. She consults and speaks internationally on product development, branding, merchandising, production and entering the US market. She also serves as an industry expert in legal disputes. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Cal Poly Pomona and serves on the Dean’s advisory board.

Julia Szkiba, Director of Education

Julia Szkiba's career in the apparel industry spans over 20 years as a fashion designer, graphic/textile pattern artist, product developer, and educator. Julia gained invaluable industry expertise in her role as an independent contractor with the Disney Store, Universal Studios, Paramount and Warner Bros., where she worked with their licensees on several key product launches. Other clients have included: Posh Paws/ED pet products for Ellen DeGeneres, JLA Pets, the Tangerine Tree for children's apparel, Glossy Chick for girls, and Natural Wondies organic children's sleepwear.

Julia is a lecturer and instructor for Fashion for Profit. She also teaches at the Art Institute of California - Hollywood campus and for several online fashion programs. Julia holds a Bachelors of Applied Arts in Fashion Design and a Masters of Fine Arts in Fashion Merchandising from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She also has a children's and pet apparel line called Be Kind to the Planet with the George & Bethie collection, promoting rescue and adoption.

Susan Warm, Director of Marketing

Susan has worked in multiple fields: fashion merchandising, the wine industry, gym owner, crisis intervention, E-commerce, and program management.

Her first couple of jobs out of college were in fashion merchandising and marketing. After her children were born, her focus turned to working with abused children in residential treatment. It was in this position that she earned her certificate as a crisis intervention counselor and decided to pursue a master’s degree in Psychology. 

While getting her degree she went to work for a small start-up company that grew into one of Inc. Magazines Top 500 E-commerce companies.  She started in the sales department and worked her way up to marketing and merchandising. When the company was purchased by a $1.5B corporation.

I have been working as a freelance Social Media and Digital Marketing Specialist for over 3 years. My specialties are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. I helped to organically grow the online following of many small companies by focusing on creating content directed to well targeted audiences. My passion is working with people, organizations, and up and coming companies to share their unique story in the best way
